IT MANAGER (Hands-On sole contributor)


The desired candidate will have prior experience in a sole senior IT hands-on role, preferably working in a medical device company.  Specific experience and responsibilities will include, but not limited to: providing overall IT hands-on management; providing system admin experience ensuring 100% up-time of the Company’s IT infrastructure; qualifying and registering all Company software; providing on-demand customer support to employees; and ensuring Company hardware provisions are maintained for Just-in-Case situations; as well as providing technical support input for departments’ projects.                                               


  • Spearhead Spectra’s infrastructure and provisioning (hardware, software) are state-of-the-art, best in class; responsible for making recommendations to this effort
  • Provide system administration to ensure 100% up-time of all Company IT infrastructure
  • Ensure Spectra website is active and robust, interface with Marketing in this effort
  • Ensure Just-in-Case hardware procurement for any and all new hires
  • Responsible for providing up-time metrics monthly to management
  • Ensure all Company software is qualified, registered, and incorporated with security software
  • Spearhead and ensure FDA software validation
  • Monitor infrastructure to alert, guard and take immediate action against any potential security breaches
  • Provide on-demand customer service to all employees both remote and local
  • Participate in the development and provide support of Ecommerce site and Merchant pay site, working closely with finance and sales
  • Responsible for managing, maintaining, and providing upgrades for Spectra’s ERP system (NetSuite); Spectra’s QMS system (MasterControl), and Documentation Control software system (Docstar), work closely with finance and QA
  • Provide technical support inputs for departments’ projects
  • Assess usage of above systems and make recommendations for overall improvement in usage, as well as develop and provide training to managers, supervisors and all users
  • Develop ISO specific training appropriate for each department
  • Create a WISP policy for Spectra and roll out training in 2019
  • Responsible for working and interfacing with customers and vendors to ensure overall performance and for integration of systems for EDI and DSCSA requirements; Network outside support (NENS); Phone System; Security System; Copier/printer contracts; and Employee Timeclock connectivity and up-time
  • Must be proficient in selecting vendors for future system and software enhancements


  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a computer science discipline
  • 7+ yrs in a senior level hands-on IT customer service role
  • Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication and problem solving skills
  • Possess above-average interpersonal skills demonstrating the ability to work with others, cross-functionally in a professional, positive, and collaborative manner
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to meet tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently as a self-starter, desirable
  • Willingness to learn, possess a can do attitude, and motivated to succeed and grow
  • Ability to multi-task with strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite; QMS systems (MasterControl); operating systems (Windows Desktop XP; Windows 10); networking software (Server 2008-2010) along with Remote Desktop; ; and DCI; security software; phone system; and timeclock system (ADP)
  • Prior experience as ERP Administrator (NetSuite a plus). Including integrating third party software to the ERP system for flawless communications.  Third party connections include, Tracelink, Docstar, EDI, SPS Commerce, and DSI.
